How to price mobile detailing services

Mobile detailers win on convenience, which means you can charge for travel and still beat shop prices. Use this calculator to price each package by vehicle size, include fuel and supplies, and produce a price menu you can send to customers before they ask.

Vehicle size
Sedans, SUVs, and trucks differ in time and product use. Tier by size rather than quoting one flat price.
Vehicle condition
Pet hair, stains, and heavy contamination justify surcharges, ideally agreed before you start.
Travel and water
Fuel, drive time, and bringing your own water or power are real costs mobile operators carry.
Add-ons and coatings
Clay bar, ceramic spray sealants, and headlight restoration add high-margin revenue per visit.

The formula behind the calculator

Cost = (hours × your hourly pay) + supplies + travel. Price = cost × (1 + overhead) ÷ (1 − margin), rounded up to the nearest $5 (or $1 under $20). Add-ons skip the travel and setup charge, since they ride along with a main service. Every input is yours to change, so you can see exactly how each assumption moves your prices.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a mobile detailer charge?

Price from your hourly target plus supplies, fuel, and overhead, then compare with shop prices in your area. Because you travel to the customer, you can price at or above local shops.

Should I charge a travel fee?

Many mobile detailers include travel within a service radius and add a fee beyond it. Build average fuel and drive time into your base prices.

How do I price a very dirty vehicle?

Use a condition surcharge, or quote after a photo or inspection. Tell customers the surcharge policy up front.
